Islands, in acknowledgment of our humble and sincere gratitude and
appreciation of MARGARET THATCHER, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom,
throughout the campaign for our freedom,

Stanley and all Townships and Settlements throughout the Falkland Islands.

On the Occasion of the Twentieth Anniversary of the Liberation of the
Falkland Islands from Argentine Occupation on the fourteenth day of June
1982
WHEREAS at its meeting on the twenty-first day of September 2001 the
Legislative Council of the Falkland Islands recognising the great debt of
the Falkland Islands and their people to the men and women of Her
Majesty's Armed Forces serving in the Falkland Islands and in the waters
surrounding the Falkland Islands FIRSTLY in relation to the preservation
of the liberty and right to self-determination of the people of the
Falkland Islands, and SECONDLY the assistance given to the civilian
community by members of Her Majesty's Armed Forces and their support of
local charities and good causes RECORDED its sincere and grateful thanks
and RESOLVED to confer upon all components of Her Majesty's Armed Forces
from time to time serving in the Falkland Islands or the waters
surrounding the Falkland Islands the Freedom of the Falkland Islands on
the occasion of the Twentieth Anniversary of the Liberation of the
Falkland Islands from Argentine Occupation
NOW THEREFORE in pursuance of that Resolution we the Legislative Council
of the Falkland Islands do this fourteenth day of June 2002 the Twentieth
Anniversary of the Liberation of the Falkland Islands from Argentine
Occupation CONFER the Freedom of the Falkland Islands upon all components
of Her Majesty's Armed Forces from time to time serving in the Falkland
Islands or the waters surrounding the Falkland Islands

1976 At a meeting of the Executive Council on 21st July 1976 the Governor
in Council resolved, on the Motion of Councillor John Smith, to confer
upon THE ROYAL MARINES The Honorary Freedom of STANLEY in recognition of
the close association which has existed between the Falkland Islands and
the Royal Marines for more than two centuries, to record appreciation of
the zeal and warm-heartedness with which the members of the Corps have
carried out their duties and contributed towards the well-being of the
community, and with a view to fostering further the traditional friendly
attachment between the Royal Marines and the people of the Falkland
Islands.
This Scroll is to certify that the Royal Marines have been duly admitted
to the Honorary Freedom of Stanley in pursuance of the above resolution
this 8th day of December 1976.

Order of St. Michael and St. George, has served as Governor of the
Falkland Islands since the twenty seventh day of February 1980.
And Whereas Sir Rex Masterman Hunt has made an outstanding contribution
towards the well being of the people of the Falkland Islands
Now We the undersigned representatives of the people of the Falkland
Islands in acknowledgement of our gratitude and appreciation of the said
contribution of Sir Rex Masterman Hunt towards the well being of the
people of the Falkland Islands
