Falkland Islands Radio Station (FIRS)

Live broadcasting Island-wide from Stanley's radio station.  Breakfast show with music and chat 7-9am, Lifestyle magazine programme 10am-1pm and popular music Chart Show 4-6pm all Monday to Friday.  Programming continues from 6-10pm Monday to Friday and 5-10pm Saturday and Sunday.  Particular emphasis on local news and current affairs, weather forecast, flights information, and 'what's on'. British Forces Broadcasting Station (BFBS) Radio 1

Serving the MPA garrison but also broadcasting Island-wide.  Coverage is popular-music based and features live DJs at the MPA radio station interspersed with programmes broadcast from the organisation's UK studios. MORE....

BFBS Radio 2

Serving the MPA garrison but also broadcasting Island-wide.  Provides a wide range of news, current affairs, sport, drama and comedy, including programmes produced by BBC World Service, Radio 4 and Five Live. MORE.....

KTV Radio NOVA (BBC World Service)

Penguin News

Weekly newspaper published on Fridays and found in almost every household.  Provides local news and features, sports coverage, commercial and classified ads, public notices, job shop, acerbic editorial and lively letters page.  UK and overseas subscriptions available. 

Falkland Focus

Daily newspaper featuring local and international news and events produced one day in every year by the students of the Community School for entry in the annual Newsday competition run by the Times Educational Supplement.  4-time winner of the International Section. 

Falkland Islands Gazette 

Official publication of the Falkland Islands Government, published throughout the year to record legislation, appointments and other official matters.  Available by subscription (contact the Government Secretariat).

Falkland Islands Journal

Annual digest of historical, geographical, ecological and other essays about the Falkland Islands.  Available from certain Stanley outlets.

Falkland Islands Newsletter

The newsletter of the Falkland Islands Association.  Includes lots of news and comment, book reviews, articles and striking photographs.  Available by subscription or from certain Stanley outlets.

Falklands Focus

Glossy news-sheet produced every two months by the Falkland Islands Government.  Available from the Secretariat in Stanley or from the Falkland Islands Government Office in London.

BFBS 1

The best of current British television broadcast Island-wide :  news, sport, soaps, drama, comedy, documentaries, features, kids, music. 

BFBS 2

The 'lads channel' with plenty of films, sport and adult-themed programmes.  Broadcasting is at present restricted to MPA and Mare Harbour.

KTV

For a one-off installation and monthly subscription fee viewers can access a number of channels including BBC World, CNN, Sony TV, Warner Brothers, HBO (Films), ESPN (Sports), Discovery Channel, History Channel and People & Arts.

Satellite TV

South American digital satellite TV can be picked up which often includes an English soundtrack. KTV also offer a satellite package.
