2001 FLIGHTS AND NAVIGATION AGREEMENT Exchange of letters dated 3 February 2001 between a Minister of the Argentine Government and Robin Christopher, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Argentine Government in Buenos Aires. 23 February 2001 Mr Minister, I have the honour to refer to your Note of 23 February 2001, which reads as follows: "Mr Ambassador I have the honour to refer to flights by private civil aircraft and to navigation by private vessels from mainland Argentina to the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) and from the Islands to mainland Argentina. In this respect, I have the honour to propose the following arrangement: the formula on sovereignty in paragraph 2 of the Joint Statement issued at Madrid on 19 October 1989 applies to the flights and the navigation by the aforementioned aircraft and vessels including their arrival, stay and departure, to all meetings between officials of our two Governments regarding such activities, as well as to all acts necessary for those activities to take place and any other related acts, and to the consequences thereof, as well as to this Note. I would be grateful if you could confirm that the contents of this Note constitute the understanding between our two Governments on the matters considered in it." I have the honour to confirm that the contents of your Note together with this Note shall constitute an understanding between our two Governments with regard to these matters.
